"The SEE is always willing to take love to the extreme, both physically and psychologically. Even when this feeling is short-lived, the SEE is well aware of what they want from the person they desire: they are not inclined to adapt to them, but only to dictate. Arrogant while optimistic, the SEE does not feel fear when faced with a difficult situation but rather tries to solve it right away."

Opening StatementsWritten by ImpossibleHunt

There is not really much for me to add about the SEE (ESFP). On one hand, I find that lots of SEEs get attracted into typology and are awesome people. But on the other... I sort of notice that SEE types always try to act "big and bad." Like they'll sometimes say Nobody tells me what to do, and I value respect, brotherhood, and loyalty above everything else." Okay one, you are looking into typology on the internet, you are as pathetic as the rest of us. Second, craving "brotherhood" and "loyalty"  sounds like boy locker-room talk, and honestly, sort of gay (nothing wrong with that, but let's call a spade a spade).

On a serious note thogh, SEEs are a great type. If they are on your side and care about you, they will be the first one's to step in if they see you being treated unfairly. Super justice oriented, rebellious by nature, and caring about those in their social circles. I tend to roll my eyes at the "brotherhood" talk (you aren't Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy, chill out), but besides that, great people to have around.

Type Breakdown

Se-Fi Ego Block
(Se-Fi) - (Te-Ni) - (Si-Fe) - (Ti-Ne)

The Ego Block is the aspect of the personality you are the most confident in, and is what you offer to the world. It's the main dish of the course, and it's your signature. As such, the ego block is made up of the Base/Leading the Creative functions. The base function is your entire worldview; everything stems from it. The creative function is the sword to your kit, which you can use in any given situation. It's flexible, and importantly, can be turned on and off (which makes it more subtle in usage than the base function), as it's not "on" 24/7.

For the SEE (ESFP), the base and creative functions are Se and Fi.

The SEE is someone who is entirely perceptive of power dynamics, and how volition can be used to assert themselves in the world. These types are aggressive, and will react with confrontation when they perceive someone is trying to get them to do something. In essence, the SEE wants to determine their own destiny. They want to make their own decisions, want to be their own masters, and enjoy testing their own abilities through conflict. To them, life is about power, and going through life accepting whatever challenge comes their way, is how the SEE decides to live.

To accomplish this, the SEE is also proficient in establishing close-knit interpersonal bonds. These bonds and relationships are flexible, and are subject to being further developed, or cut off at a moment's notice. I find that this type will usually create a "squad" of people loyal to them. At least, that is what the SEE likes to call it. Personally, I prefer the term boy band

The SEE seeks to acquire power and resources, and uses their boy band to achieve this end. As such, these types often will not have that much trouble in developing relationships and deep ties (in contrast to the SLE). So as a result, you'll find that these types are often leaders, whose force of will and flexible relationships are a driving force in making things happen.

A good example of an SEE is Captain Edward Kenway, from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. For most of the game's run time, he is a man solely concerned with increasing his wealth and prestige, and to come back to Europe (and to his fiancé) as a man of status. He has no qualms with conflict, using force, and leading a team of men to make that happen. He even states later in the story that he was solely concerned with resource gain and greed, and enjoyed the violence (not giving a damn about anyone he hurt along the way). The main lesson of the story is him gaining humility, and thinking of the long-term consequences of his actions, and being something more than an impulsive pirate.

Ne-Ti Superego
(Se-Fi) - (Te-Ni) - (Si-Fe) - (Ti-Ne)

If you are coming in from MBTI, this is where socionics begins to depart from it. The next area of focus is called the superego block, or the area in which uses to support their ego block. The two functions in this sphere are called the Role and the POLR (Point of Least Resistance) functions.

The Role element is the function you use to directly support, and to balance out your ego-block functions. It is not something you enjoy doing or value, but it needs to be done in order to balance yourself out as a person. You'll see this element a lot (which can lead to mistypings), and you can actually become quite proficient with this function with practice. The POLR function is the element you essentially keep locked up in your basement because it directly messes with the ego-block. As such, this is going to often be the function many struggle with using properly, and requires constant (and painful) trial-and-error to improve.

For the SEE, the role and POLR function is Ne and Ti

The Ne role of the SEE is mainly concerned with the potential of others. However, the SEE is reluctant to rely on imaginative potential alone, and needs to see a person in action to get a good sense of their capabilities. So what the SEE will often do, is use their Ne to give someone a chance to prove their worth, usually sending the person on a "quest." The SEE will then use the results of that "quest" to see whether that person is to be trusted or not. But the SEE will almost always give a person a chance to start. From a surface level glance, this might make someone mistype the SEE as an Ne base, as you might see this frequently. But you will always see Se-Fi take a priority, and Ne is only used to allow someone to prove their worth through action.

A good example is through Eren Yeager's interactions with Pieck Finger in Attack on Titan. Eren does not trust Pieck outright when she says she wants to join the Yeagerist faction. Instead, Eren sends Pieck to demonstrate her loyalty to him by rooting out other spies. He needs concrete proof of action before he trusts a word of what she says.

"I need proof. If you really intend to cooperate with us, then back up your words with action."

Ti POLR effectively means the SEE struggles in seeing the value (and sometimes comprehending) rigid and complex logical structures. If they come across additional terms, rules and processes, they SEE will likely disregard these until they see a practical use for them in their daily lives/ experiences. The SEE would much rather gather and seek out practical and empirical data, or following their own logical frameworks to determine the answer for them. So while the SEE might be factually correct in lots of cases, the structure in how he/she comes to their conclusions might not make very much sense, and sometimes border on being nonsensical. This can cause a few issues. If you ever catch an SEE and force them into a debate setting, you are going to see them squirm lol.

Ni-Te SuperId Block
(Se-Fi) - (Te-Ni) - (Si-Fe) - (Ti-Ne)

The Super-id block is made up of the two functions that the individual is weaker at, but consistently values and wants to get better at. This block has two functions, the mobilizing and the suggestive element. The mobilizing function is something that gives the individual energy, and is an avenue they want to keep actively pursuing to become better.

The Suggestive function is known the "inferior" function in MBTI, and is an aspect that the individual sucks at, needs lots of help and guidance with, but they are open to (and love people who can provide) feedback in this area.

For the SEE (ESFP), their suggestive and mobilizing functions are Ni and Te

The SEE is attracted and deeply-values insights that help to predict the future. Of course, they are not looking for mystical fortune-tellers, but people who are highly capable in assessing cause-and-effect, and how it can slowly develop in future events. This is why the SEE dualizes with the ILI (INTJ), as they can help to make the future a lot more certain for the SEE, to make their actions less impulsive, and to maximize their impacts. The ILI knows when to act, when to wait, and are fully comfortable with their relationship with time.

One of the most poignant examples of Ni suggestive is Jackson "Jax" Teller, from Sons of Anarchy who would often spend his time reading his late father's journal, in which he details his observations about the motorcycle club, and where it will eventually lead. His father's insights then later affect his decision-making, and wanting to keep his children out of the dangerous, and corrupting circumstances he often finds himself in daily (lots of it due to his own choices). Jax seeks out the hidden meanings to his life, often concepts that he can't perceive himself until it's too late.

Te mobilizing makes it so that SEEs are attracted to people who are knowledgable, fact-oriented, and and can apply those facts in productive/effecient ways. They seek competence in people, despite being insecure about their productivity and competence themselves. They will often seek information from any subect they are interested in, and try to apply it (without much concern for their own sense of logical consistency).

Si-Fe Id Block
(Se-Fi) - (Te-Ni) - (Si-Fe) - (Ti-Ne)

The Id Block is made up of functions the individual is very good at. but don't really care that much to talk about, or draw attention to. These two functions are called the Demonstrative and the Ignoring elements.

The Demonstrative element is something that is constantly running in the background, and many people might associate you as having. When it flairs up, tt's extremely bold, noticable, and it's actually the most potent function alongside your base/ dominant function. Because of this, it can lead to a load of mistypes if not careful, as you might think someone's demonstrative element is their base. However, the demonstrative element is not that interesting to the individual. They know they are good at it, but they don't see much value in investing too much time into this element.

The Ignoring function is pretty self-explanatory. It's potent, effective, and it can be used when you need to. But you would much rather spend your time and energy engaging with your ego block, so this is only used as "back-up" when the scenario calls for it. This element is effective and you're good at it, but it's not all that interesting to engage with.

For the SEE, the ignoring and demonstrative elements are Si and Fe

The SEE is aware and concious when assessing their own physical states because of Si ignoring, and knows what makes them comfortable, etc. But they see this as more of a novelty, and would much rather focus their time on doing things. In fact, the SEE might get annoyed with people who constantly insist on being comfortable 24/7, because in their eyes, life is about living and acquiring resources. These are not the types to sit back and rest on their laurels.

Fe demonstrative can make the SEE extremely jovial, and able to keep an upbeat atmosphere. These types can be noisy as a result. But underneath it all, these types actively seek and reinforce tight-knit interpersonal bonds based on their likes and dislikes. As such, they will only be upbeat and jovial if it directly assists what they want to do with their Se-Fi ego block, or what they want to accomplish.
For example, Negan Smith is someone who is incredibly expressive, and has no issue goofing off in order to keep the mood upbeat. But in this scene, he is using his jovial personality as a way to demonstrate his dominance over Alexandria. It is used to directly assist his own personal volition, and keeping everyone subservient to his interests.

Despite Negan being expressive and very emotive, it is used to support his Se-Fi. He wants to establish dominance, and acquire a new connection through Alexandria. He has the full intention of executing of them in order to punish them for their transgressions. But he demonstrates the "new world order" through Fe. He does not value Fe as a means in itself.

How to Spot an SEE in Real Life
  • This is going to be someone very conflict oriented, but wants to establish a close-knit circle of trusted individuals who can help him/her achieve their goals. This person is someone who wants to demonstrate their own volition, and acquire resources throuh challenge and adversity.
  • Will almost always be open to giving people a chance, given that they prove themselves through observable actions and results. If you succeed according to their expectations, you'll be included in their circle. If not, then they won't have an issue keeping you out.
  • If left on their own during intellectual discussions (and without facts to fall back on), these types might arrive at pretty nonsensical conclusions. They don't often have their own stringent ideologies that they fall back on.
  • This is someone who deeply values people who have a sense of what might happen in the future. People who can take a step back, and offer a dispassionate analysis based on cause-and-effect, It helps to cool the SEE off, and to prohibit them from engaging in destructive or impulsive behaviours.
  • These types are fact oriented, and want to learn lots of new empirical data to use practically. Of course, they might have difficulty finding ways to use those facts in a productive manner.
  • Someone who wants to live an active life, and accomplish things; does not value spending long periods of time in comfort, will grow restless.
  • Can be very expressive and noisy to lighten the mood, but it always serves a purpose by helping accomplish their goals in some way. They are not people who value creating an upbeat atmosphere 24/7, and will likely find the practice and amount of effort required meaningless.
